We've worked hard to make the Extend 2009.3 release one to remember. The major enhancements for this release are:
Forms
We have made a major change to Forms in Extend. We have done away with standard and custom fields. Instead, all fields are now form field types and can be used anywhere in a form for maximum customization. Form field types are valid for any format and can be displayed anywhere in your form.
Global and Local Code
A while ago we added the ability to upload and apply CSS or JavaScript locally or globally to your Web site. With the Extend 2009.3 release we take it several steps further. Now you can:
Add a meta tag
Embed a CSS or JavaScript block
Apply an external CSS or JavaScript file
Add a favicon
These additions to the Custom Code menu enable you to make your organization's Web site more personalized and inline with your overall style.
Enhancements
HTML Editor
We have made some minor tweaks to the HTML created by Extend to help increase and improve HTML validation.
Character Limits in Text Boxes and Fields
Hate it when you write a message in a text box or field but, when you post it, the whole text doesn't display? We've taken steps to keep this from happening in Extend with the inclusion of a notification message when you exceed the character limit for a text area.
Web Resources
We have added several Web Resource media categories. The new categories include: CSS, JS, ICO, and XML files.
Change Site
For ease and convenience we have added auto-completion to the Change Site window.
Post Backs
Post backs are no longer required for the following situations:
to re-order items on the Organize Groups, Channels, and Categories pages.
to select a category, design, or scheme on the Global/Local Design pages.
when you click Expand/Collapse All on the Channel Manager or Category Manager pages.
Site Name
When you click your Site Name, the link now opens the live site within Extend Administration.
Behind the Scenes
We've added subtle animations throughout the program for more visual flare and design appeal.
Corrections
Despite the best laid plans, sometimes things just don't work properly. These things happen and we aim to fix whatever we can as soon as we can. During the Extend 2009.3 release, we corrected the following issues.
Corrected issue with images not preserving transparency when creating image classes.
Corrected issue with a new site. Demo data returned an error message when attempting to change the site design.
Corrected issue with the Custom Code button. When you clicked Custom Code the Preview Site window opened instead of the Custom Code window.
For security purposes, we no longer allow HTML to be entered in form fields when submitting forms on Presentation.
Corrected issue with the Channel and Category manager. The tree view on these pages no longer resizes visibly; instead, it automatically fills the page.
Corrected issue with the creating or editing of an article in the HTML editor. The page no longer flashes when loading.
Corrected issue with the Add Link page returning an error when you attempted to sort columns.
Corrected issue with the tool tips for the expand and collapse icons on the Channel Manager and Category Manager. Before, the tool tips displayed HTML code when hovered over; now the correct tool tip displays.
Corrected issue with certain ICO files creating an error when uploaded to the Media Manager.
Corrected issue with ICO files being uploaded to articles and photo albums. The ICO files have been re-categorized to prevent any further issues.
Corrected issue with the Status drop-down not being disabled when adding a link to an article.
Corrected issue with dates in the program. A four-digit year is now required for a date to be considered valid.
Corrected issue with phone and fax fields not displaying in the correct format in Internet Explorer 8.
Corrected issue with podcast having the same date after updating the xml file in Extend.
